How to use these guides

Topical verses are a doorway, not the whole house. After a short passage, open the chapter link and read what comes before and after. For a fuller path into Scripture, see best Bible for men and the complete Bible reader.

How these themes are grouped

The guides are sorted into four groups, because the questions men bring to Scripture tend to fall into four kinds.

Character covers who you are when nobody is checking—integrity, discipline, purity, humility, patience, and the passages written to young men. These are the guides to read on an ordinary week rather than a hard one.

Calling & work covers strength, purpose, leadership, and provision: what you are for, who is following you, and the pressure of being depended on.

Family covers fatherhood and forgiveness, which are grouped together on purpose. Most of the forgiving a man has to do is close to home.

Struggles covers hard times, grief, and addiction. Scripture treats these as real rather than as evidence of weak faith, and none of these guides suggest that reading the right verse resolves them. Where addiction, grief, or a mental-health crisis is involved, these passages sit alongside qualified help rather than in place of it.
