Scripture does not treat youth as a holding pattern. It tells young men to set the example rather than wait for permission, to run from what will cost them later, and to build the habits now that they will lean on for decades.
1 Timothy 4:12
Don't let anyone look down on you for being young—set the example instead.
1TI.4.12
12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
The one charge given specifically to young men is self-control, backed by example.
TIT.2.6-8
6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
